The Story of Diagnoserv
The global pandemic undeniably disrupted healthcare systems worldwide, bringing daily life to a standstill. Among those most affected were individuals with health conditions, particularly those managing chronic illnesses, and anyone seeking routine diagnostic services. This highlighted a critical need for accessible healthcare. In response, a group of doctors and healthcare professionals conceived the idea of at-home diagnostic services. The concept was simple: a mobile lab for sample collection, a registration system for tracking, and NABL certification to ensure adherence to government guidelines. However, efficiently managing this system, including staff, appointments, and data, required a centralized platform. This need sparked the development of Diagnoserv.
Diagnoserv is a centralized desktop, web, and smartphone application designed for diagnostic laboratories, healthcare institutions, and individuals seeking at-home diagnostic services. Recognizing the distinct needs of different users, two versions of the application were developed: a feature-rich lab version for comprehensive management and a streamlined mobile version for home sample collection procedures.
Phase 1
Requirements from Healthcare Organisation
User Feedback and Requirements for Diagnoserv
Medical Administrator Feedback:
A comprehensive dashboard is essential for real-time monitoring of key metrics, including:
Patient visits
Total tests conducted
Number of home services
Total revenue
Branch-specific data
Role-based access control for data editing is required.
The system must allow for dynamic adjustment of normal and abnormal test result ranges based on updates from the Central Health Department. This includes separate ranges for adult males, adult females, children males, and children females (four fields total).
Recognizing that not all users will keep the Diagnoserv app on their phones, online booking through the website is crucial. Integration with existing platforms like QkDoc and Practo Consulting is desired, allowing bookings to be seamlessly passed to Diagnoserv via a developer service.
Staff/Billing/Report Dispatch Feedback:
The patient registration form should capture essential information (name, age, and potentially sensitive data) along with lab test names and associated codenames for efficient data entry.
Test data should include referring physician information. The system should track revenue sharing with affiliated doctors.
Data entry fields for normal and abnormal result values are required.
Digital report delivery via email and WhatsApp (with patient consent) is necessary.
Digital attendance tracking for staff.
Tracking of home dispatch unit status.
Recording of spoiled sample status.
Reimbursement tracking.
HR management features.
Billing statistics generation.
Patient dashboards for accessing their records.
The UX design is flexible and adaptable to accommodate future feature additions.

The UI Design Process
Following the UX phase, I transitioned to UI design. Leveraging Figma, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator, I crafted a visually appealing interface that aligns with the project's branding and accessibility guidelines.
Avenir was selected as the primary typeface for its clean, readable aesthetic, contributing to a user-friendly experience.
The color palette, an amber and dark blue combination carefully chosen from Adobe Color, was implemented to create a sense of (mention the feeling you aimed for, e.g., trust and innovation) while ensuring sufficient contrast for readability and accessibility.
This palette was thoughtfully applied to all UI elements, including icons, to maintain visual consistency and enhance the overall user experience. The UI design was then integrated with the validated UX framework, ensuring a seamless and user-focused final product. This design will be handed off with detailed specifications for development. Post-launch, user feedback and analytics will be used to further iterate and improve the product.
Stay tuned.
Thanks
Peace
